Out at the South Side Patio in Arlington, Texas, some folks got together to throw a benefit for a great lady named Tammy.
Just some of the folks there--who you'll hear on this podcast--were emcee James Mills, along with Brett Watts, Jay Johnson, and Tommy Alverson. Along with a lineup of other great artists and fun people who came to contribute.
Listen in for some of the sounds of that great day at Tam Jam--where the goal of raising $15,000 was shattered! A whopping $27,500 was donated to help out.

Patrick K. O'Donnell's new masterwork, First SEALs: The Untold Story Of The Forging Of America's Most Elite Unit, tells a tale so amazing you might not believe it actually happened.
Because, at every stage of his new book, Mr. O'Donnell keeps topping the "OMFG!" moments of true history with yet another mindbending event in the formation of the Maritime Unit--the fledgling WWII group that pioneered the special forces concept.
The book features an adventure-addicted dentist, Hollywood idol Sterling Hayden (who changed his name to join the OSS), inflatable surf boards, and NFL kicker of note, and a cast of characters worthy of a major motion picture.
The only real question this book leaves uncovered is "Why is Patrick K. O'Donnell wasting his valuable time on The Tom Gulley Show?"

Two years ago, we got to hang out with Jeff Hopson in the lavish Tom Gulley Show studios. And we covered just about everything.
Including his discussion of starting his new CD project--Heretic--which has recently been completed.
As well as getting to enjoy two LIVE cuts of tracks on Heretic (an INCREDIBLE collection of songs--buy it at CD Baby) we covered left handed guitars, Johnny Cash, early Aaron Tippin, the worst song Jeff's ever written, things named Lucille, and lots of Sling Blade.

Back in October of 2012, Ronny Spears put on a big benefit for his Aunt Sue up at The Cowboy Club in Van Alstyne, Texas.
And a star-studded lineup of Texas music stars came out to pitch in. It was an incredible night--filled with great friends, great music, and great times.
More than anything, it was family. Because that's what the Texas music community is.
And, the family lost one of its favorite brothers this week. So sit back, listen to some people swap some stories and play some great music. And listen in to the love and respect everyone had for the late great Ronny Spears.

The Texas music world took a pretty big hit to its heartstrings today.
Ronny Spears--a Texas musician who defined the hardcore honkytonk ideal and passed it along to so many others while making friends along the way--sadly, has passed away.
Ronny was a constant. Like the sun in the sky. Always around. You could take comfort in the act Ronny was playing somewhere near you. The White Elephant. Love & War. Hank's. You name the place.
And like the sun, Ronny shined brightly. In his collaborations with others. In his kindness. In his masterful songwriting. And, in his fierce belief in having something to say with a song. Something HE wanted to say.
